Like every Avengers movie, you can’t dive into the storyline expecting a smooth ride–this movie is an action-packed film that happens to offer more amazing heroes, genius villains, humor, and clues of an even bigger superhero world.
After what happened in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” the Avengers had come together once again to hunt down the remnants of HYDRA, a branch of the Nazi-German Army of World War II under the command of the Red Skull, and the missing scepter of Loki. All of the hints had lead them to the country of Sokovia, where they defeat Baron Strucker and his troops. Along with Strucker came along two not-so-new faces to the Avengers: Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. HYDRA had been trying to give ordinary humans some crazy-influential powers and these perfect twins who were born with an insolent attitude towards Tony Stark were their first triumph.
The film begins with a notable battle scene between the twins and the Avengers. Quiksilver uses his super-speed and Scarlet Witch uses her telekenisis powers to manipulate their minds into thinking they are living their worst fear. Witch’s certain power had immensely affected Tony Stark, causing his powers to be weakened and his mind filled with doubt and worry.
As Tony builds a new artificial intelligence to help save the world, things go haywire and the evil villain Ultron was born.
I enjoyed every minute of this movie and felt that the new crew members did a great job in their role, almost as if they were destined to play them. I also happen to be a huge fan of Scarlet Witch since she tears people apart from the inside and was able to bring out the sensitivity in all of the Avengers. If you are a huge superhero aficionado like me, you will fall head over heels in love with this movie. With all of its breath-taking graphics, noteworthy battles, new crew members and even some long-awaited Avenger romance, “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” will have you on a roller-coaster of emotions for the full two hours and twenty-two minutes. Also, if you’re new the Marvel movie fanclub, never leave during the credits; they always slip in a sneak peek of what the next movie has to offer, and my, oh my, is it BIG.
“The Avengers: Age of Ultron” is rated PG-13 for its intense and violent sci-fi action, inappropriate language, and suggestive comments. I rate this film five out of five stars and recommend it for ages 10 and up.
