Avengers: Infinity War

Updated: Apr 6, 2020

Awaiting the film that audiences have been raving about for what seemed like an eternity, everyone in the theater was rambling on about their expectations and excitement. Suddenly, the room grew quiet as the lights gradually dimmed. The moment Marvel’s opening sequence hit the big screen, what was once a dead silent theater had now been erupted into a concert of thunderous applause. It is clear that most, if not all of us have been waiting ages for this installment, and we were ecstatic to be some of the first ones to experience it.

If you’re not up to date with The Avengers film series or you’re new to this [awesome] fan base, no need to fear—the film gets to explain it all for you. If you just can’t handle the wait or you need a quick refresher, the story continues after The Avengers were ‘broken up’ during Captain America: Civil War. This is where Thanos arrives on Earth and plans to collect every single Infinity Stone, which are these powerful gems who belong to the most omnipotent and omniscient of heroes. Thanos has a gauntlet with empty spaces for these stones, and with them, holds the power to end half the universe. The Avengers: Infinity War is the follow-up story, where nearly all members of the MCU join forces to fight Thanos before he causes mass destruction.

Since the premise of this film appears to be so straight-forward, it’s difficult to explain what you should be looking forward to without giving away any spoilers. So, I’ll proceed to give you an inside look as to what you should be expecting from the movie. The character development in this story is intriguing and leaves no questions unanswered. You may find yourself sympathizing with the villain, and hating yourself for it. We finally get to see more from the female leads’ personal lives, which will keep you on your toes, struggling to find words to say. With a star-studded cast like Chris Pratt, Robert Downey, Jr. and Zoë Saldaña, it’s impossible not to expect grade-A acting and chemistry.

The Avengers: Infinity War outdid themselves and offered some stunning visual effects; depicting battle scenes with the glow of Wanda and Dr. Strange’s magic, to Wakanda’s vast technological abilities, one will swoon over the immaculate details the story triumphs in representing. The writing manages to pull at your heartstrings, sore your stomach up from laughter, and keep you on the edge of your seat all at once. Not many films can pull that off and do it impeccably, but this one did, as it proves itself to be a remarkable blend of wit and thrill. Oh, and of course, stay for the post-credit scene, as you may find yourself dumbfounded at the film’s abrupt ending, but this will be able to give you some closure.

Despite being a die-hard Marvel fan, if I were to eliminate all my knowledge on this cinematic universe, I’d still be giving this film five out of five stars. With its phenomenal storytelling, alluring visual effects and heart-wrenching performance, I hold no doubt that you will have The Avengers: Infinity War engraved in the back of your mind for ages to come.

This film is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action throughout, language and some crude references.
